MAGNOLIA HARDY FIG (EDIBLE) - A fast growing bushy hardy fig in zones 7-10. Likes sun to light shade. Grows 12-15' tall and wide. Likes poor acidic soil. Produces abundant quantities of delicious dark brown figs both early and late summer. Self pollinating, great for containers. A good choice for canning, fresh, or dried. Plants are grown and shipped in 4.5" POTS with growth 10-12".
Magnolia or Brunswick produces a good crop of medium to large bronze to purple figs with good quality pink to amber flesh with tiny seeds and open eye. The fruit ripens over a long season. Magnolia is considered a good choice for the drier portions of the South and Southwestern US.According to Dr. Condit's Figs: A Monograph, (UC Davis, Riverside: February, 1955), Brunswick is synonymous with the following "Bayswater, Boughton, Black Naples, Brown Hamburgh, Clare, Cl?mentine, De Saint Jean, Hanover, Madonna, Large White Turkey. Also Magnolia, Dalmatian."
