Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A very disease resistant and free-blooming antique climbing rose producing lightly fragrant 2" cherry red blooms for 10 months of the year here in zone 8B. A great rose for arbors, fences, and trellises. How do you get the most out of your climbing roses? Train the canes or stems of your roses as horizontal as possible but with breaking them. This may need to be done while the stems are still pliable but not when they are so tender that they will snap. By training them horizontally the hormones that induce flower production are spread out all along the stems, whereas on a vertical stem all of those hormones go to the tip and you will only get a few, if larger, flowers at the top.
