Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Clusters of fuchsia pink, 1 1/2", tubular blooms are borne throughout most of the year on this beautiful tropical trailing perennial. Glossy green slightly quilted foliage on arching to trailing stems. Great for hanging baskets, mixed containers, or in the front of the garden. Attracts Hummingbirds. Purple Fountains Skullcap is considered by some to be hardy to zone 8A if provided with a deep winter mulch, we have a tendency to err on the side of caution and say zone 9 with a mulch, possibly additional protection in harder winters. We previously offered this as Ventenat's Hot Pink Skullcap but that designation was incorrect as this is apparently Scutellaria longifolia.
This Scullcap is a moderate growing, mounding plant for sun to light shade producing beautiful spikes of purplish red flowers during summer..great for mixed containers.
