Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Rich, orange-yellow blooms burst forth at the terminal ends of the stems on this East African native. Often called Yellow Crossandra, the Firecracker Flower performs well in containers where it blooms from spring until frost in outdoor gardens, or year-round if grown indoors. This tender, tropical perennial may be grown as an annual in northern zones.
Soft yellow-orange blooms, that appear to have exploded from the buds, are borne throughout summer and into fall on this perennial tropical.Crossandras are excellent for mixed containers and in the garden for bright color in shaded areas where they often flower until frost. If kept from freezing temperatures they can easily reach 3-4' high or can easily be pruned to keep them in bounds. They can tolerate full sun but at least here in the hot South they have a tendency to curl their leaves on the hottest days and do not perform as well. Crossandra infundibuliformis is listed as an Outstanding Indoor Plant by Texas A&M for more info follow this hyperlink: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/interiorscape/Crossandra_infundibulif.html
