A flower of tremendous substance with spectacular 4" blooms. Its delightful fragrance makes this Passiflora a choice specimen for your collection. Blooms are thick, cranberry-colored sepals and petals, with a blush of lavender and an upright cone of dark purple filaments, banded in white. It freely flowers upon its heavy vine in late summer and early fall. Also known as P. 'Phoenicea.
The large deep purplish red petals of Ruby Glow Passionflower are topped with a halo of deep bluish purple filaments. A heady sweet fragrance fills the air when this beautiful passionvine is in flower and it may produce very large, up to 3"W x 5"L, yellow tropical fruit if the flowers are cross pollinated by another species, cultivar, or seedling passionflower. Ruby Glow is a vigorous growing, heat loving tropical vine that can reach 20'H under good conditions.
Provide Ruby Glow Passionflower with a moderately fertile, well-drained soil in a full to partial sun location for the best results. Protect from frost and freezing temperatures, although it is reported that well-established plants may return from the roots if a light freeze or frost does occur.
