Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The red passionflower, Passiflora vitifolia, has bright red flowers with central red filaments around a white centre accented with white stigmas and yellow anthers. The grape-like leaves are lush and tropical and are flushed with burgundy when young. This is a vigorous vine that will bloom profusely through summer and fall on new wood. Hardy to zone 9, coastal BC gardeners could try planting it outdoors in protected situations such as up against the house with a winter mulch. For everyone else it is an easy container plant that might even bloom indoors in the winter. Trim back in the spring to maintain size and shape. The white-speckled green fruit is fragrant and tastes of sour strawberries once ripe.
Exotic 4", glowing scarlet blooms are borne summer to fall on a this vigorous bronze leaved passion vine.
