Nerium oleander 'Emile Sahut'

Clusters of cupped deep red 1" flowers with starkly contrasting white stamens are borne in summer on this compact and hardy oleander. Emile Sahut is about as close to a hardy dwarf red oleander as you can get typically growing to about 5' high but may reach 8' high. This compact growing cultivar makes a good choice for containers, as a hedge, or as part of the shrub border. Emile Sahut is known to be particularly cold hardy and can be grown in zones 8B and warmer. In the northern portions of its range it will be more likely to remain shorter and in warmer regions it is more likely to hit the 8' mark. Oleanders are salt tolerant, drought resistant, deer resistant, and adaptable to a variety of soil types although they do appreciate good drainage and seem to prefer a mineral soil over humus based soils.
