This small lily relative grows only to about 10" in height, spreading to form luxuriant clumps by underground runners if given plenty of summer moisture. The glossy, evergreen leaves and small lilac flowers make any brightly colored object stand out and look wonderful with your. Full sun to deep shade; a bit slow growing either way. Frost hardy in upper USDA zone 6.
Not many plants can boast of having such amazing black leaves that create scrumptious combinations with other plants. In part shade, combine with white-flowering Beesia, Anemone 'Vestal,' or with ferns such as Adiantum venustum or Blechnum spicant, or with Heucherella 'Sweet Tea,' or 'Gold Zebra.' Subtle white- lavender flower spikes bloom in August followed by purple-black berries. Easy to transplant side shoots. 10" tall and slowly spreading. Evergreen. Sorry, grasses and sedges cannot be shipped to California.Minimum temperature: 0 °F
