Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Dynamite is an appropriate name for this spectacular 10-20' tree! Crimson-red young foliage emerges in spring turning to deep, dark-green in summer. Summer also brings scarlet-red buds which open to bright, cherry-red flowers. As if that weren't enough, autumn and winter bring bright copper-orange fall leaves and showy peeling bark; definitely a wow plant! S/M PP10296
Chosen as one of the "2002 Arkansas Select Plants" This is the first true red tree form crapemyrtle. Cherry red flowers in full sun and hot conditions. (Clouds or shade will reduce red intensity and flecks of white may appear.) New growth is crimson, then green. Upright form to 15 feet. High mildew resistance but may develop anthactnose (yellowing leaves) under severe conditions. U.S. Plant Patent # 10296
The cherry red flowers on this first red crape myrtle will say take me home. It will grow to 15' as a multi or single stem plant. Outstanding.

Dynamite is a midsized tree (12') with close to true red flowers.
This somewhat shorter selection (to 10' or so and fast-growing) is named for its pyroclastic red flowers, opening from bright red buds in August and September. New growth emerges red as well, making a handsome addition to a sunny spot with some supplemental summer water. Handsome peeling bark and bright orange fall foliage. A Whitcomb hybrid. Frost hardy in zones 6-9. PP10296
