Zn 4. Pink flowers. Deep olive green foliage.
With fuzzy, tiny green leaves, and flowers, pinks to purples on 2-4' tall stems, this prostrate thyme enjoys rock garden conditions, creeping amongst stones, filling crevices, and cascading over edges. It's perfect also for drier garden spots amongst pavers and along pathways. The flowers, attractive to bees and butterflies, bloom in summer, June - September, and the leaves, though not of the culinary variety (Thymus vulgaris) are aromatic and in many areas persist throughout winter. It's a tidy, pretty cushion that also suppresses weeds. How obliging! Minimum temperature: -20?F
Low mat with tiny leaves and pinkish summer flowers. This one decorates the southern tip of Maple Grove on our Garden Railroad. Prefers full sun and good drainage.
Dressed up with a fresh pink blanket of bloom and a delicate texture, 'Pink Chintz' is one of the first Thymes to flower. Obscured by its colorful cover, this vigorous ground hugger's small grayish green leaves are strongly scented, close-knit and fuzzy. Try tucking Mother of Thyme in the rockery alongside Stachys 'Silky Fleece' and Dracocephalum 'Blue Dragon' for a detailed association.
Similar to above, but lower-growing with dark olive, woolly leaves and salmon-pink flowers. A tough and durable ground cover in the landscape and tolerant of considerable foot traffic. Full sun or light shade with moderate to occasional water. Hardy to 0F. Europe.
Thymus serphyllum Pink Chintz is a spreading perennial ground cover herb with soft pink flowers for 6-8 weeks beginning in July. Growing 1-2 inches tall and spreading 12-15 inches wide. Likes sun and well drained soil. Soft hairy gray green foliage
