This dwarf Japanese Cedar shows off its tight bun of short dark green needles in clustered layers, slow growing to 2’ tall & wide in 10 years. Bronze hues add winter interest. Happiest with protection from hot afternoon sun in decently drained soil with moderate moisture. Will never outgrow a pretty pot, at home in a trough or as a bonsai. Bring it forward in the landscape to enjoy it!
A flat-topped miniature mound. Green leaves pick up bronze highlights in winter.
Zones 5-9. Tiny Japanese Cedar with very small needles in clustered layers. Makes a charming mini Bonsai, trough plant or let grow naturally to a small mound of medium green. Very slow growth. Easy to trim and shape as a tiny tree. In container will be about 6-10" at 10 years. Larger in the landscape. Prefers a cool site, moderate water, well drained soil. Protect from overhead sun in hot summer areas. Will turn an attractive reddish color in colder winters. Ryoko gyoku translates as Green Ball. Discovered in Oregon by Ed Woods. Shipping size 3-5".
