This gem of a groundcover looks like grass-green velvet, so dense and tight on the ground are its tiny toothed leaves, until it covers itself with small but showy purple-blue, spotted flowers... then it?s fairyland! S-PSh/M/GDr/Acid
It's hard to describe the interesting shape and coloration of these unique flowers with purple speckles. There's really nothing to compare them to. A quickly spreading ground cover for sun or shade. Fast but not invasive. Flowers in late Spring to early Summer.
From the foothills of the Himalayas, Purple Mazus is a durable mat-forming herbaceous plant with a plethora of tiny purple snapdragon-like flowers with spotted yellow and red lower lips. Bloom time is spring to mid-summer. Very fast growing, yet not aggressive, its bright green carpet doesn't mind being stepped on in low traffic areas - just not with cleats or vibrum soles. Use to fill in gaps, plant between stones, or even as a lawn substitute.Minimum temperature: -20?F

Mazus reptans is hardy in zones 5-8 growing to 3" tall forming a dense mat of fingernail size green leaves covered from spring to mid summer with snapdragon like purple blue flowers. Will tolerate light foot traffic. Likes moist soil and spreads quickly. A deer resistant ground cover.
Mazus is a dense prostrate growing perennial that is superb as a groundcover or filler. Only1-2" high, it is good for use between paving stones. Tiny tubular purple flowers that look like tiny butterflies, appear in the spring.
