Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A brilliant yellow flowered False Indigo from Hans Hansen and now a Proven Winner Selection, bearing tall charcoal stems bearing spires of lemon yellow legume flowers in late spring to early summer. The contrast of dark stems with light flowers really pops in the landscape, delivering an amazing floral display. Plants grow robustly to 40" x 48". Magnificent with Globemaster Alliums .
Impressively vigorous compared to other yellow baptisia, 'Lemon Meringue' forms an upright, vase-shaped mound of attractive blue-green foliage topped with long, charcoal stems carrying charcoal buds and lemon yellow flowers. The cultivars of the Decadence Series from breeder Hans Hansen were selected specifically for their shorter, more compact habit and unique flower colours. Baptisia are like perennial lupins. Though they are herbaceous they act much like a shrub for design purposes.
