A hosta recommendation from the captain of the Enterprise. Boldly go where no gardener has gone before! Hosta ‘Captain Kirk’ displays showy variegated leaves with golden centers and broad blue green margins. An attractive mounded perennial with stalks of pale lavender flowers in summer. Hostas, also called Plantain Lilies, grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils. A good partner for ferns. Although the flowers are attractive, Hostas are usually grown for their ornamental foliage.
Creamy gold leaves in spring aging to yellow then ivory with dark green margins, slightly cupped. Emerges early spring from purple shoots. Pinkish lavender flowers from rich violet buds in high summer. Half day sun to full shade. A larger medium size hosta.
