Originally found on Krk Island off the Yugoslavian coastline, Rusty Foxglove boasts distinctive copper-hued towers of bloom. A lovely variety of Digitalis ferruginea! The flowers are a pale yellow & have rust-colored veining in the throats. The bloom stalks can be as tall as 5’ & are tightly packed with flowers. Makes a great cut flower, albeit a tall one. Get out your big vases! The first year it will produce a rosette of dark green leaves & then bloom the second year. Cut stalks after bloom to encourage it to act like a perennial, otherwise it will set seed & return again as new plantlets. Plant in moist, loamy soil.
