Delosperma ‘Jewel of Desert Ruby’ features a low mat of succulent, blue-green foliage covered in ruby-red to white, daisy-like flowers with white eyes. Ideal for rock and alpine gardens. Needs excellent drainage and benefits from gravel mulch. Ice Plant is ideal in borders, mass plantings and containers. Deer resistant.
Delosperma Jewel of the Desert 'Ruby' has red-tipped petals with wide white centers and a yellow and orange transition zone. Flowers from late spring through fall. Ice plants are long-blooming and carefree succulent mat-forming perennials similar to sedums that thrive in heat, drought and nearly any well-drained soil. Very hardy but should be protected from winter wet either with very well drained soil or in the rainshadow of a house or other structure. Deer resistant.
This low growing ground hugging groundcover produces small finely-petalled daisies that open a deep purplish red and fade to orange atop the narrow rounded succulent foliage in late spring. Use at the front of the border, spilling from baskets or containers, in mixed succulent gardens, or as a groundcover. Drought tolerant once well established and is considered suitable for xeriscaping. Plant responsibly as this is considered an invasive in some regions, particularly California. PPAF
