Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This heirloom has been grown since 1946; intuition would tell you that if it's still a top choice, it's got to be good. This bright red mini glad with white picotee edged petals is winter hardy so you can add it and enjoy it for years to come. A nice addition to summer bouquets, too.

One of my all-time-favorite gladioli ever. Intense red flowers neatly edged in bright white arranged loosely on tall (three feet or more) stems, and, best of all, this thing is hardy. Many sources call it only zone 6, but I've grown it for years in zone 5, and it always comes through the winter just fine. Makes a spectacular cut flower as well. Zone 5
Hummingbirds love it, and petite, jewel-like 'Atom' may forever change the way you look at glads! A primulinus glad with flowers half the size of most, it melds easily into perennial borders and bouquets. It won't get lost, though, because it's a brilliant red cooled by the finest edging of silver. It's our best-selling glad, our Spring 2006 Bulb of the Year, and in 2012 Scott planted it on national TV with Martha Stewart.
Absolutely striking red flowers with a fine ivory-white edge. They are about half as big as a regular glad flower, thus are easily combined in a mixed border. Reportedly hardier than zone 7 - mulch will help in colder zones or simply lift and store them cool and frost free.
