An odd edible of uncertain parentage but we're happy to have it, as the fruits are tasty & plentiful enough to provide for those of you into preserves. Fruits, which mature inside papery lantern-like husks, are golden yellow & cherry-tomato-sized, with a tart pineapple flavor. I've heard they're extra-good when covered in chocolate, but many things are. Plants mature fast to 3' high & wide & bear fruit through the Summer. Easy as an annual, it's rumored that this species may be perennial. (Ooooh.) If you find that's the case, tell us so! Rich soil? Best. Sun? Yes. Grow as you would a tomato & you'll have ground cherries in abundance.
