Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Our black diamond! A luscious legume that has a cult following at the nursery. If this plant could be pollinated by drool alone, we'd be up to our ears in starts. Unfortunately, it's been a bit shy on the propagation front, which means you should grab this puppy if the opportunity arises! Clusters of black velvet flowers crown fine grey green leaves. We weren't certain if the plant would survive the winter cold & wet (its island home off the coast of West Africa isn't a climate very similar to ours, so it was a gamble!) but it pulled through with minimal sulking. In time, the plant will form a small woody stemmed shrub around 2' high & wide. Where hardiness is an issue, it makes an astounding annual. Best in a container with well-drained soil.
