Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Roxton' is an extremely fast growing leek & will be fat & ready for Summer & early Fall grilling & soups. It is also likely to be more tender than a variety bred for Fall planting. Get the seedlings in early Spring & place them 3" in apart in rich garden soil.? Set them deep (up to the first leaf node) to encourage the white stems that leeks are famous for. Keep them well-watered & fertilized through the growing season. Dig out, chop the green part off (can be used in soup stock) & make two cuts through the top to make it easy to remove grit between the leaves. Cook & enjoy!
