Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Totally tubular bright lemon drop yellow upright blooms pop out of wavy blue-green leaves in early Spring. Native to the Cape Province in South Africa, "Yellow Soldier" stays a compact 8" tall & wide. Lachenalias make charming additions to rock gardens & are also easy in pots. Good drainage is important, as is a dry period in the Summer. Plant in areas that don't receive Summer water, or in pots so you can diminish water in the Summer, when the bulbs are dormant.
