Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Russet & orange spikes of flowers provide rich color to the dry garden on this evergreen shrubby perennial, native to the Canary Isles & now sadly close to extinction. Isoplexis are scarce in the nursery for other reasons no matter how many we propagate they always seem to fly out the door their tolerance of a hot, dry life & their colorful flowers make them a hot ticket, but they're easy to grow in the garden if you take care to not over-water or over-feed. Good drainage will help them towards a longer stay, but the plants are relatively short lived even so. We're still learning about this Canary rarity! We think it blooms in Spring & on into Summer & grows to 3' high & wide, but let us know how it does in your garden. Leaves are a deep green & lance shaped, & with flower spikes that are a foot or more in length.
