Iris dichotoma is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with blue and green foliage. In spring and summer purple and white flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Grows well with sun and even moisture water. Does well in average and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.
We finally got around to propagating a decent batch of this beautiful Irid. Exotic purplish flowers borne on branching scapes with falls larger than the standards, ivory spotted and striped maroon at the base, flecked purple in the center with the claw striped purple. They open rapidly in the late afternoon, so quickly that you can actually watch them unfurl, although they generally seem to wait until your back is turned; once pollinated the petals twist together into a cool little rope, several open each day for many weeks in mid to late summer. ZONE 4
Beauty & brevity the delicately formed elegant flowers of this Siberian Iris last only a day, but are produced throughout the late afternoons & evenings of late Summer on slender & elegantly branched panicles. Each bespeckled purple & white bloom is just an inch & a half across, but the show isn't meager & the plants themselves will reach 3' plus in height. A parent of the well known "Blackberry Lily", full sun, rich soil & average water is best, but these plants can brave less water & nutriment & still thrive. Save the seed or let it fall to see a new crop next season! The sword-shaped green grey leaves die back to rhizomes in the Winter.
