Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A way cool & RARE native from the Canary Island of La Gomera! Growing bigger than plain old A. decorum, the guarimarense variation can reach heights of 30". Grow it in bright shade (in hottest areas) & the mid green leaves will display orange-rosey tones with red edging. In full sun areas with temperate conditions (like here in coastal California), the red coloring totally intensifies very showy! Bloom time occurs in late Spring with angled inflorescences bearing lovely soft pink starry flowers. Happy in well-drained soil with a bit of compost & occasional Summer water.
