Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Our clone from good friend Kevin Hughes, most recently of Hampshire's Spinner's Nursery. A shrubby tree to 10 ft or so with thick, gray-green leaves with a silver shimmer. In midsummer, the foliage is absolutely smothered with 3/4" whitish pink flowers, lasting a very long time. A must have for the proper garden. Frost hardy through the single digits F, USDA zone 7.
A handsome species to 12', we grow a clonal selection from England with soft gray leaves and rose-colored stems. Suitable as a specimen or screen in full sun or modest shade, this species is adapted to acidic soils and is drought tolerant once established. The foliage color works very well with other Mediterranean shrubs as do the white flowers borne in late winter. Australia.
From southeast Australia's highlands comes this attractive and versatile evergreen shrub with relatively large leaves and flowers for a Leptospermum. This form seems typical of L. grandiflorum in that it produces showy white flowers in the fall; and will make a nice, rounded yet open-branched shrub reaching 8' tall and wide. It might be one of the best Leptospermums for hedge potential as it is vigorous and would grow more densely if sheared. We haven't seen damage on it yet and expect hardiness to at least 5 - 10°F. We thank Tory Galloway for sharing this from her collection of rarely encountered drought tolerant plants.
