For an ?!? accent, filling a tight spot, or creating a compact formal border, the columnar Dawyck Beeches make a wonderful choice?this one welcomes spring in a dress of gold changing to lime-green for the summer. S/M
Columnar form of beech with bright golden leaves in the spring fading to a nice lush yellow-green in the summer. Fall color is gold and tan. Very dense in habit, 'Dawyck Gold' is a lovely tree for a spot where a full size beech would be too large. Growth Rate medium
Tightly upright without pruning. Its moderate growth rate makes it a useful landscape plant. Bright golden spring foliage fades to green, followed by pleasing bronze fall color. Selected in Scotland as a seedling cross of the green 'Dawyck' Columnar Beech and 'Zlatia'.
Deciduous. A columnar form with golden-yellow spring leaves turning lime-green in summer. Fall color is bright golden-orange.
Dawyck Gold is a columnar beech which comes out gold in the spring changing into green in summer with golden tips. It probably will get 35' tall but will take many many years. In ten years mine only got 12'. zone 6
Has an elegantly narrow, columnar habit to 60' x 22'. Yellow new growth turns to rich green and then to golden yellow again in the fall. Perfect fit into that corner and then planted in front with purple or blue foliage shrubs.

Found and named in 1969 by JRP Van Hoey-Smith. This columnar tree has golden yellow new growth. During the summer our plant (20' X 3') fades some, but still has a yellow look to the tree.
