Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A large, particularly lovely apple with an apt name! Its pale-yellow skin is flushed with rosy pink and has tasty, juicy, sweet-smelling flesh with a touch of banana-like flavor. This has been a long time favorite dessert apple which is also good for cider and storage. Harvest season is September to October. This cultivar is from Indiana and was introduced in 1890; winter chilling requirement is less than 400 hours, excellent pollinizer for other apples and partly self-fruitful, better fruit set if cross-pollinized.
