This fascinating and useful tree is found growing from India to China, this 45-50' tree sports 16" feathery leaves, large showy flower clusters made up of tiny green-yellow blooms and most notably its yellowish, bead-like and soap-producing fruits, the fruit of S.mukrossi have the highest saponin content of the soapberries, not only used for soap, the nuts have long been used medicinally for migranes, skin diseases and lice removal; tolerates poor soil, but needs adequate moisture; one tree can produce 60 pounds of fruit annually .
