Nursery contributed plant descriptions

So attractive is this vigorous 6-20' climbing shrub rose with its huge 3", clove-scented, pure-white flowers and attractive, shiny-green foliage that it has been named the state flower of its adopted state of Georgia. The fine rose is originally from the thickets and low-elevation mountains of China and was brought to the US in about 1780 where it quickly naturalized. This rose has become associated with the Trail of Tears, with the white petals symbolizing the tears shed by the Cherokee women and the golden center symbolizing the treasure stolen from the Cherokee people.
