Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Francoa sonchifolia is a little-known species from Chile known as wedding flower or bridalwreath forming mounds of somewhat coarse, fuzzy, dark green, evergreen leaves which give rise to beautiful wands of orchid-like, pink and white flowers with a deep magenta blotch in summer and fall on stems up to about two feet tall that will sway in the breeze. 'Pink Giant' has extra large blossoms that are more attractive and longer lasting. Loves cool summer climates and even moisture in sun to part shade.
Spikes (to 3') of larger pink flowers with a deeper pink stripe down the center of each petal rise from a crinkly evergreen rosette to make this showier ?bridal wreath? a much enjoyed addition to cottage/border. S/M
