Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Pure white, ruffled and waxy, 3" blooms simply glow against the dark rich green foliage. This nearly sterile Rose of Sharon flowers freely from June through Fall. Altheas are tolerant of heat, drought, and most soils. Introduced by the US National Arboretum in 1970 and bred by Dr. Donald Egolf. The Rose of Sharon or Althea is an easily grown deciduous shrub that was a common pass along plant. This durable shrub is tolerant of a wide variety of soil types, is moderately drought tolerant once well established (though it will flower more with adequate moisture), and will provide many years of enjoyment with its procession of summer flowers.
Although normally a bush, Rose of Sharon can be trained to a small tree. This standard bush will get not more than 7' and 5' wide. Perfect for a small garden. It will flower from mid summer into fall. zone 5
A truly old-fashioned favorite but with a new twist, this triploid introduction is loaded all summer long with pretty, extra-large 6" hibiscus flowers of pure white; an erect bushy shrub to 8'. Sun/Med
