Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The rose is called the smooth rose as it is the closest to thornless of any wild rose. This three foot mounding shrub is native to the hillsides, fencerows and roadsides from the Mid-west to New England. In June and July 2-3" fragrant, deep-pink flowers with bright-yellow stamens appear in abundance and are followed by bright cherry-red hips; if it's happy this may spread to form thickets. S/M
