Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This is a tender maple from China. This small tree does well along the Oregon and California coasts. Late to leaf out in the spring, but worth the wait.
This is one of the rarest Maples in wild known only from a very small and threatened population which was recently rediscovered following its introduction to cultivation in the 1930's from a scarce handful of seed. Narrow leaflets in 5's or 7's on a usually shrubby small tree and best in a milder garden. Parent plant thriving in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood.
Deciduous and rare Chinese maple, with deeply cut, 5-lobed leaves - very un-maple-like and very graceful and charming, leafing out late in spring and showing off in autumn with bright colors. This delicate tree, nearly extinct in the wild, grows slowly, reaching perhaps 15' over a long time. A lovely addition to a garden of any size in sun to part shade and well-drained soil. Requires regular summer moisture. Frost hardy in USDA zone 7.
A handsome species, one of the rarest in cultivation (rare even in its own Yalung R.valley) this sm. 8-30' tree/shrub has 5 (penta) leaflets (phyllum), (or actually 4-7?!) attached to red petioles. Sun/Med
