Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Another British introduction, this 2-3', disease-resistant Phlox has flowers of lilac and deep lavender?very pretty and cool-looking for summer. S/M
Delightful blowsy heads with large florets of pale purple-violet, washed and edged with cream, and centered with a vague pale eye. Unopened buds are deep lavender. Prone to mildew in dry soils, but of such an exquisite color, we tend to forgive it. The tendency to mildew will be reduced by planting 'Franz' in partial shade, and by ensuring good soil fertility and moisture.
Fragrant, opalescent lilac blooms with white eyes offer a cooling respite from summer?s intense shades; exceptionally long-blooming too! Blends beautifully with ?Cliveden Beauty? delphiniums or snapdragons. Provide organic, moist soils and good air circulation. I trim out some stalks the second year, selecting the weakest stems.
