Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Double red campions were grown as early as 1614. In fact, they became all the rage and then dropped into obscurity, seemingly lost until now. This Blooms of Bressingham selection is sterile, so no crowd of little ones where they are not wanted and the carnation-like blooms last for a long time. Summer bloom.
You'll likely all recognize this old-fashioned rose campion except when it comes to the flowers. Vigorous clumps of silvery, woolly foliage and sturdy stems hold aloft bright magenta-red, fully double blooms. The flowers are large at one and a half inches across and resemble carnations or roses. The flowers are sterile so they don't reseed. Well-drained soil in full sun.
Great progress!: this British discovery offers larger, double, sterile flowers of an attractive deep-red (rather than magenta), a beautiful contrast to its silver-leaves, on 2' plants that WON'T spread. Sun/M/GDr
