Wisteria sinensis plant details

Wisteria sinensis is a broadleaf deciduous vine with green foliage. In spring and summer blue and purple flowers emerge. Attracts bees and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and even moisture - regular water. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil.

Chinese wisteria is a great flowering vine with flowers opening to a blue-violet all at one time along the 6-12 in. raceme. This plant does self seed but is not as weedy as Wisteria floribunda. We suggest using this as rootstock.

Chinese Wisteria produces drooping racemes of violet blue flowers in late spring or early summer. Provide a growing area in full sun for best flowering. Flowering is also improved with regular pruning.
