    Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A columnar variety of the Japanese Umbrella Pine. The tight upright branches are increasingly capable of withstanding snow load compared to the species and other cultivars.

    By: Conifer Kingdom

Is an upright narrow umbrella pine. It is said to withstand snow loads better than the species. This bushy plant seems to be slow growing. 8'-10' in 10 years.

    By: Gossler Farms

Japanese Umbrella Pine more narrow than the species, this cultivar is an extraordinary cultivar that stands out from the rest. It withstands snow loads much better because its branches are sturdier and they are held more tightly to the trunk than other types. At maturity, the slow-growing Japanese Umbrella Pine becomes a large, spire-like tree. Another selection from Sydney Waxman, University of Connecticut.

    By: Kigi Nursery

With the same distinctive wide glossy needles in whorls of the species, this upright, much narrower selection allows those with a small space to enjoy the special beauty of the umbrella pine. Sun/Med
