Phygelius are vigorous, long-blooming, evergreen South African sub-shrubs (perennials with a woody base and stems that persist in mild winters). Use them in the perennial border or amongst shrubs. Cherry Ripe has fantastic cherry red tubular flowers with a yellow throat. The flowers, their nectar and their long bloom period make them popular with hummingbirds. The foliage is soft green and lance shaped. Best in full sun with well-drained soil.
