Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A tall, showy native Penstemon with fully 1/3 of its 2-3' stalk covered with 1" deep-blue flowers. S/D/GDr
Penstemon strictus is a tall, dramatic species to about 30 inches with bold blue and purple tubular flowers popular with bees and hummingbirds. It is one of the easiest and longest-lived species spreading steadily via stolons to form large clumps with time. Plant in well-drained soils in full sun.
Penstemon strictus is evergreen with multiple spires of large violet-blue tubular flowers designed, as with all Penstemon, with the hummer in mind (and I don't mean the SUV!). This one will tolerate heavy soils better than some, but "tolerate" is the operative word, preferring well-drained gritty soil. It's profuse in the Four Corners region, Mesa Verde, and low-elevations of the Rockies. 1' - 3' tall and wide. Minimum temperature: -40?F
A great perennial from the rockies, tufts of foliage bear multiple spikes of brilliant sky blue flowers, this is one of my favorite medium sized penstemons. ZONE 5
