Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This striking, clump forming grass starts as pretty green blades in spring that gradually turn reddish toward the end of summer. As fall progresses the color turns purplish with bright orange-red. By mid-winter it is a deep burgundy color, with seed head turning from silvery to a rich straw-gold. A more upright compact miscanthus that will bring 4 season satisfaction to any garden!
An early blooming Miscanthus producing attractive spikes of rosy hue in August. Gives a strong vertical form that is sensational as a focal point or clump of green at the rear of the border. Turns flame orange and purple in the Autumn. Miscanthus are one of the best grasses for year-round beauty at the back of the border: new green shoots in the spring become tall blue-green linear leaves that form an elegant clump by midsummer. Attractive flowers emerge in fall. In winter the leaves turn straw colour and provide much interest. Photo courtesy of Walters Gardens.
A handsome, compact selection, flame grass stands out in the garden with its brilliant orange-red fall color (J.Greenlee) ; produces showy, silvery plumes standing 1-2' over the 3-4' upright clumps in late summer. Sun/Med-Wet
