One of the most desirable blooms for cutting, you can bring spring into the house! This unique and fabulous fountain-like Forsythia has gracefully arching branches which create an eye-catching, mounding shrub 8' tall and 12' wide. Its lovely cascading/trailing branches are covered in bright golden-yellow flowers in spring. This is a wonderful addition to cottage gardens and the deer do not touch it! S/M
Another lovely plant in a genus we didn't think we really liked. Shared with us by Marshall Olbrich of Western Hills fame, this diminutive species remains under 2' with a pendulous, weeping habit. They have under 1", narrow leaves and produce a lighter-than-usual yellow flower in great abundance anywhere from January through March. Ranks almost with Jasminum nudiflorum in suitability for spilling over walls or placement on banks. Sun to dappled shade. Frost hardy to -10 °F, USDA zone 6; zone 5 with protection. (Also known as Forsythia suspensa.) Oleaceae
A marvelous specimen plant. Forsythias are one of the best selling shrubs and for good reason. Weeping forsythia is upright, arching, almost fountain-like with slender, long, trailing pendulous branches which distinguishes it from the species. It is a most graceful shrub and it can even be trained on an arbor to appear as a Forsythia vine reaching more than 10' tall or wide.
