Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A magnificent specimen (to 60') with picturesque wide-spreading branches, broad clusters of small creamy flowers, black fruits and purple-red fall color; ?even in winter this tree is striking owing to its rich-red young wood? (Bean). S/M
The largest of all dogwoods, Cornus controversa grows to 50 feet tall with lovely coarse-textured leaves and white frilly flowers in late summer. It is one of the few dogwoods that flowers in the fall rather than the spring or early summer, and the flowers are quickly followed by black fruits. Plants grow more tree-like on their own without pruning than other species.
Giant Dogwood trees will grow in more sun than most other dogwood species but still appreciates some afternoon shade in very hot climates. Trees will do best when given well drained soil and medium water through the summer.
Blooms: spring, clusters of small white flowers. Blue berries. Spreading horazantal-layerd growth. Zone 5-8. 30', Asia, part sun-shade, moist, well drained
