Campsis radicans 'Atropurpurea' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial vine with green foliage. In fall and summer red flowers emerge. Attracts bees, birds, butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture water. Prefers to be dry in summer. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in rich and well-drained soil.

Campsis radicans 'Atropurpurea' produces many panicles of 6-12 large, scarlet red flowers on large-growing vines. As for all trumpet vines, a sunny warm location with room to ramble is required to get the best display. Long, bean-like, seed pods, 15 cm long, open when ripe. Compound, pinnate, green leaves, 40 cm long. Very aggressive, suckering by underground runners. Clings to surfaces by aerial roots along its branches.
