Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Hardly is there a flower that evokes a sense of the tropical more than the passion flowers. Passiflora 'Incense' is a cross between P. incarnata and P. cincinnata creating a very hardy, vigorous cultivar with stunning lavender flowers highlighted with pink and white. It can produce small, edible, oval fruits but these are not the tasty tropical passionfruit you'd buy at the specialty grocery store or find in the local markets of the tropics. To increase hardiness, bury the base of the stem 4-6 inches deep when planting.
A sweetly perfumed cultivar that's a feast for the eyes! This winter hardy variety is used as a garden plant as far north as the coast of Southern New England. With large, five-fingered, 5" royal purple flowers, its lacy-edged corolla overlays the petals. The more sun this plant gets, the more it blooms.
Deep purple 3-4", richly fragrant blooms on a vigorous climber with medium green foliage. One of the hardiest passion vines. The fruits may be edible, but it takes hand-pollination to get much fruit at all, they say. It often decides to relocate all on it's own.
A byproduct of fruit research yielded this gorgeous cultivar for gardens. Freezing temperatures will take it to the ground like its hardy incarnata parent, but when it returns next summer, the amazing, rich purple fragrant blooms will knock your socks off! Potentially hardy to zone 6. Hybrid Passion Flower Vine.
