Clematis viticella 'Venosa Violacea' is a striking heirloom cultivar with icy white central bands with increasing royal purple veining towards nearly solid purple edges. It is a member of the Viticella Group which were the first clematis grown in English gardens beginning in the 1500s. They bloom from July to September and are hardy to zone 3. Tolerant of part shade. Pruning group C - hard prune in early spring to about one foot from the ground.
