Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Deciduous vine, 6-8’ with open tulip-shaped deep pink flowers with pale pink edges, profuse June>Sept, flowers followed by silky ball seedheads. Full sun to half day sun, best in fertile, moderately moist, well drained soil. Like all Clematis, prefers a cool root run so mulch! Flowers on new wood.
It is an outstanding cross of texensis with Bees Jubilee. A steady bloomer from midsummer into early fall, its compact habit makes it possible for large containers or just as happy in your perennial border.
Starry small blooms (2.5” long) in rich deep pink with rose margins face upward, displaying the maroon and cream stamens. A midsummer to fall bloomer that remains decorative in later fall as the seedheads, composed of silky filaments, shine in the sun. Produces more and more blooms each year, flowering on the new growth; prune earliest spring to 1’.
If you haven't yet discovered the Texensis Group of clematis, do come and have a look. Though the flowers are small to medium-sized they are exquisite and, I think, some of the most elegant in the genus. 'Princess Diana' is a stunning variety with rich, deep pink, outward facing, tulip-shaped flowers with paler pink edges in July-October. During autumn and winter the plant is adorned with silky seed heads.
