It is considered the hardiest of the montana types. It boasts fragrant white blooms in spring. After blooms are finished, it makes a fine backdrop of glossy green foliage to feature later blooming flowers. We've also seen this variety grown successfully into a large Pine with a stunning "snow capped" effect on the branches of the tree. An Award of Garden Merit winner. Northern India, 1844.
This vigourous clematis can eventually reach 25-35 feet! 'Grandiflora' produces masses (hundreds if not thousands) of pure white blooms in spring. Plant it up a tree, train up the corner of the house or along a large arbor or fence.
