Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Girl under Wisteria Bloom' is a marvelous compact Japanese cultivar, whose namesake aptly alludes to its sizable, long blooming wisteria blue-violet flowers. Large plump buds blanketed with short white hairs unfurl flattish and satiny smooth 6 to 7 in. blooms defined by tapered, slightly overlapping tepals, prominent saffron yellow stamens and later, ornamental golden fluffy seed heads. Introduced in 1952 and awarded a RHS Garden Merit Award, this strong growing deciduous gem can be enthroned on a small obelisk, a threshold or in a patio pot, where the delightful blossoms will cool down the hottest summer afternoon.
Fluffy, wisteria-blue flowers with a delicate yellow center appear in midsummer and again in the fall. This lovely clematis vine is content to be planted anywhere, just keep its roots shaded. [Group A, May - June & September, 9']

The 6 to 7 inch blooms are profuse in early to mid summer and again at the end of summer. This compact selection is excellent for containers on a small trellis! Large Flower Type. Arai, Japan, 1952.
