Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Deciduous vine with 6" wide, deep rose-pink blooms with cherry red in broad stripes on the petals. Flowers appear in May to June, then again in September. Great vine to grow on a trellis or arbor.
It's a truly outstanding cultivar with compact growth and heavy flowering that is perfect for containers. It makes a good cut flower and the seed heads are beautiful, too! Blooms in late spring and again in late summer. This selection is more shade tolerant than most writers will say. We grew one directly underneath the north side of a Blue Atlas Cedar which was flanked by Maples and Poplars. It never failed to bloom there.
The dexterous hands of an Argentine doctor raised this fabulous free flowering Clematis. Boasting wavy edges and a sensuous satiny luster, each large single blossom is composed of 6 to 8 overlapping rose pink tepals, which encompass candent yellow-brown anthers. Dark fuchsia-colored central brush strokes and tapered points define the tepals. A medium-sized, moderately vigorous stature renders it well-suited for container culture or a garden arch. Coveted by floral arrangers and hummingbirds alike, 'Doctor Ruppel' charms gardeners with repeat bloom periods, curly tailed spherical seed heads and a mettle tough enough to endure strong sunlight.
Huge 6-8" deep magenta flowers are edged with a broad band of creamy white to light pink. This is a vigorous yet compact and free-blooming Clematis typically flowering in spring and often again in late summer. Pruning group 2 - prune immediately after flowering to promote reblooming. An excellent choice for container gardens too! Item# 9438. Clematis are often long-lived perennial vines that can live for 50 years+. These small-medium sized vines like conditions where their head is in the sun and their 'feet' are in the shade. A deep mulch, groundcover, or even a rock can provide the cool root zone that these easy perennials prefer.
One of the better known clematis, the deep rose-pink flowers to 7", have a carmine bar from the base to the tip of each sepal. This is a good strong grower and very free flowering. [Group A, May -September, 9']
