With each 3-to-5 parted leaf edged in a broad border of creamy white, ?this is one of the daintiest of variegated shrubs? (Bean); multi-trunked arching shrub to 8' with large clusters of black berries in fall. PSh-Sh/M
Elegant, upright growing deciduous shrub with arching stems; 8-10' tall and wide - fringed leaves with rich creamy to golden borders - A.M. sun to deep shade. Magnificent as an easy espalier on a lightly shaded wall!!! Rarely offered.  USDA Zone 5  3" pot
Airy masses of deep pink flowers cover the red-tinged foliage from late spring through fall. This selection has a sturdy upright habit that does not have a tendency to fall open like other varieties do. Tolerates heat, drought, and humidity. Useful in sunny mixed borders and rock gardens, and in containers.
One of J.C. Raulston’s ‘care’ packages in the 80’s. This plant is almost indestructible. Our largest plant is 6’x6’and has small variegated leaves. The plant will grow in full sun to deep shade. The overall shrub effect is creamy white. There are several cultivars called variegatus but this has the best foliage of all.
Though uncommon, variegated five-leaf aralia is an easy care and low maintenance addition to the shade garden. Tolerant of a wide range of soils, including drought, it quickly grows into a medium-sized arching shrub. Palmately compound leaves are mint-green with an irregular creamy-white margin. Great for adding interest and structure to the shade garden. Great with Hosta and grasses.
Wherever this carefree east Asian native is staged, it quickly matures into an engaging, medium-sized specimen full of panache. Buckeye-style, bright green five-fingered leaves are artfully splashed with irregular creamy, white margins and sport small spines at their bases, while lining numerous upright and arching cane-like stems. The hardy thicket-like, deciduous mound has so much fortitude.
This is a fairly rare form of the Fiveleaf Aralia. Plants have a loose airy habit and the palmate compound leaves are handsomely edged in white. Variegation patterns may vary from leaf to leaf. A very handsome plant yet tough and adaptable many conditions. Good choice for difficult spots. Only grows 3-4? in ten years. Recommended by: Garden Clubs of America

White or occasionally yellow edged glossy foliage. Highly sought after for it's ability to brighten up a shaded area. This is a very effective plant in areas of dry shade -- always a tricky spot for shrubs, as well as Perennials. This Variegated Aralia can definitely add foliar interest. It does have 'prickers', so site it appropriately. Beside the chair where your Mother-in-Law always sits might not be the best spot -- or then again... .
